Zoe Saldana wins an ALMA
Zoe Saldana was the queen of coordination when she hit the red carpet at the ALMA awards in Los Angeles on Saturday. The American actress must have known it was going to be a good night for her when she selected her coral combination. She rocked a floor-length coral gown with plunging neckline and gathered waist. She paired it with matching droplet earrings and even painted her lips the same shade as her frock.
The rest of Zoe's make-up was just as pretty: she went for natural foundation, smokey eyes and tinted eyebrows. Her raven locks were swept up in a glamorous front poof and ponytail combination and the award she won for 'Favourite Movie Actress in a Drama Adventure' was the perfect accessory to complete a show-stealing look. Last year she received a nomination for this award for her performance in "Takers" but this year she bagged it... no wonder she was smiling.
What are the ALMAs?
The ALMAs (American Latino Media Arts Awards) aim to recognise outstanding achievements from Latinos in music, TV and film in the US. It is always a star-studded event.
This year, it was hosted by Eva Longoria and George Lopez; and by all accounts, it was scorching hot in more ways than one. The celebs braved the 100 degree Fahrenheit LA weather to attend the awards and still managed to look good.
Get your own poof and ponytail
We might not have LA weather but you can still borrow a bit of red carpet style from Zoe. To get her your own poof and ponytail combo, apply volumising gel to damp hair and blow dry with a paddle brush sweeping the hair backwards.
Separate the front section using a clip and brush the back smoothly into a ponytail. Secure with a hairband. Now apply hairspray generously to the front section and tease with a rat tail comb until it has a candyfloss-like texture. Apply additional hairspray and smooth the top of the poof using your hands to conceal the teased hair. Secure with bobby pins.
The show won't be aired until 21 September on NBC, so you have until then to perfect your poof!
