The fluorescent colour is most definitely the in-thing this season. It's everywhere! We've already seen fluorescent accessories and neon designer fashions , and now it's made its way into our beauty looks, creating a flashy, pop look. In the absence of a neon dress, go for a fluorescent manicure instead.

As with any neon colour, you need to take a few precautions before trying it out. It works very well with tanned skin, but for paler skin tones you need to be a real fashionista to pull it off... not saying you can't do it!

It looks good on fingernails and toenails, but trying it on long nails is a guaranteed beauty faux-pas. This is a look for short nails only.

How do I do it?

To get your flashy manicure noticed, the rest of your look needs to be quite simple and sober. The colour block look isn't completely ruled out, but should really be kept for summer outings. Fluorescent yellow nail varnish is best used on the odd occasion, as it will brighten up your look when you need it to and will bring a touch of excitement to a simple outfit.
