Who's that girl? Charice!
She may be barely twenty, but Filipina actress and singer Charice has achieved a lot in the past few years.
Like being the first Asian solo artist to ever make it into the Billboard's top ten, for example.
Or being dubbed by Oprah "the Most Talented Girl in the World."
Or starring in the hit series Glee.
Not bad, chica.
Charice is one of the new generation of global YouTube sensations-- like Prince Royce (check out our interview), the rising star Irma (check out our interview ) or, perhaps the best known, Justin Bieber himself.
"Here Comes the Boom"
Charice appeared at the premiere of "Here Comes the Boon" looking grown-up and elegant for her mere twenty years. Deep wine-red lipstick in a slight ombre effect was the centre of her beauty look. Her choppy, stylish hair cut was marked with an innovative reverse ombre dye-- her natural brown was highlighted with a blonde top coat.
The rather ridiculous looking film (Charice co-stars with Salma Hayek and Adam Sandler among others) tells the story of a 42-year-old biology teacher who tries to train as a pro fighter to raise the money for his floundering inner city school.
With the catchphrase "some things are worth fighting for," it may have been a film that spoke on some level to Charice after her own personal journey. Raised by a single mother, Charice first started entering singing contests to help make ends meet for her small family. For the singer, that must feel like a world a way-- literally and metaphorically-- from where she is now.
What's up next?
Looks like the sun is shining on the star who plays Sunshine Corazon in "Glee."
It wouldn't be a stretch to say that her song "One Day" is a predicition for the (very near) future:
"Wait and see... I do something original, unforgettable... they're gonna know my name."
