The best couples of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival
The 65th Cannes Film Festival finished on 27 May 2012, and we're taking a bit of time to have a nostalgic look back on some of the festival's highlights.
Couples who came to the festival to go up the magical and mythical steps together gave us a whole range of romantic recollections to feast upon.
Glamorous from the start
From the opening dinner of the festival, the sparkling Mistress of Ceremonies, Bérénice Béjo, set the tone by having her husband, director Michel Hazanavicius, at her side.
Alec Baldwin was also part of the festivities with his wife Hilaria Thomas at the premiere of "Moonrise Kingdom", which was on the same evening.
Looking great on the red carpet
The L'Oréal Paris brand ambassador Doutzen Kroes and her husband, DJ Sunnery James, lit up the red carpet as they have done every year since they met.
They are a magnetic couple, and this year went up the famous festival steps for the screening of "Cosmopolis" on 25 May 2012.
The actress Julianna Margulies was another L'Oréal Paris brand ambassador who came to this screening with her husband.
Perfectly matched with Keith Lieberthal, she looked more beautiful than ever.
More glammed-up couples
The actor Matthew McConaughey , at the festival for the film "Mud," which was part of the Official Selection this year, broke the hearts of women all over the world when he turned up with his gorgeous fiancée Camilla Alves on 26 May 2012 (they married this week!)
The day after, it was the turn of Jean Dujardin , the Oscar-winning French actor, to go up the famous steps with his wife, Alexandra Lamy , who looked radiant at the festival's closing ceremony.
And the award for cutest couple goes to...
So who were our hit couples at this year's Cannes Festival? It had to be Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger who won the Palme d'Or for Cutest Couple 2012, looking more in love than ever at the screening of "Killing Them Softly" on 22 May.
And as with every year, we spotted a surprise couple. At the 65th Festival, this couple was Sean Penn and his girlfriend Petra Nemcova who caused a stir at the showing of "Reality" on 18 May 2012.
Should we change its name to the Cannes Love Festival?
