Beauty of the week: Tavi Gevinson
If there is any blogger that is considered to be a real success, it's Tavi Gevinson. In addition to her unique style and unconventional beauty, the girl has grabbed the attention of the fashion world with her unique mix of youth and a certain style wisdom.
Taking the fashion world by storm
When Tavi Gevinson launched her blog, Style Rookie (literally, "Newcomer of fashion") in 2008, she was only 12 years old (she is 16 now). Tavie illustrates perfectly the famous saying "for souls nobly born...Valor doesn't await the passing of years."
Whereas older bloggers simply post pictures of their 'look of the day', Tavi Gevinson analyses the times, sniffs out trends and prides herself on her feminist stance, questioning the role given to models.
Future Anna Wintour
Her keen intelligence and fashion sense have earned the respect of those who can now be considered her peers.
For example, Marc Jacobs invited Tavi to sit in the front row at his Spring/Summer 2010 show, while Target stores commissioned her to collaborate on a collection with the Rodarte sisters. By 13, she made the cover of Pop Magazine and later gave interviews to U.S. Vogue, French Vogue and Teen Vogue. This success has earned her the nickname of "Future Anna Wintour".
Still a teenager...
Unfazed by her fame, Tavi Gevinson pursues her passion without pretention, holding onto her teenager status and refusing to succumb to any outside pressure. The young blogger continues to go out with friends, dress as she pleases, play guitar and sing in her band. Already a bit of a make-up pro, Tavi never fails to apply her favourite eyeliner to highlight her blue eyes. Without a doubt, Tavie is one starlet to follow!
