Sami Gayle's great retro pixie look

It is a hairstyle inspired by mythical and magical creatures with mischievous and playful personalities. In the 1960s, it was Twiggy's signature style and Mia Farrow also helped to make it one of the most popular styles of the era.

These days, pixie cuts are as popular with celebs as stardust is with Tinkerbell. Over the last few months, a fair few celebs have chopped off their tresses and ditched their extensions in favour of a pixie cut. Anne Hathaway cut her tresses for her role in "Les Misérables" and Nicole Anderson showed off her pixie 'do in Hollywood last month.

Retro is ruling the red carpet right now and with many celebs are combining different retro styles for high-profile events. We think it's fair to say that we are having a bit of a retro revolution on the red carpet!

We saw this in action when Sami Gayle fluttered onto the chocolate carpet at the 'Total Recall' premiere in New York City on 2 August. The teen-actress is little known this side of the pond, but has made a name for herself in the states. She gained recognition after appearing on Broadway, and has since bagged a TV role as Nicky Reagan-Boyle in the TV series "Blue Bloods".

The next fashionista

We think this sweet sixteen-year-old has a lot of style potential. The starlet rocked a mod-inspired get-up at the premiere, matching her chic pixie cut with a short-sleeved, beige jumper with collar detailing. Sami paired it with a red pleated skirt and matching red heels.

Coordinated look

Sami Gayle's make-up was very elegant. She opted for natural foundation, a hint of eyeliner, tinted eyebrows and bold red lipstick. She finished the look off with pearl nail polish, which matched her top perfectly. This was a gorgeously well coordinated outfit, and she definitely held her own on the red carpet.

This starlet is definitely set to give the veteran fashionistas a run for their money!
