Outline your baby blues
You might not naturally link Sarah Jessica Parker and Carly Rae Jepsen together... except in the category of "stars with three names" (sounds like a good University Challenge category, actually.)
But they can also be paired in another category, the "stars who totally outline their eyes in eyeliner" category.
The bad
It is a well-known make-up fact that fully outlining your eyes in dark eyeliner actually has the effect of making your eyes appear smaller. Take a look at the photos above-- see what we mean? Both SJP and CRJ look kind of squinty. Add Carly Rae's fringe into the picture and you barely see her eyes at all.
Both of these stars have gorgeous baby blues and it seems strange not to highlight them!
The statement
Dark eyeliner IS a big deal right now. We've been seeing bold liner and smokey eyes all over the frickin' place. It's possible that Sarah Jessica Parker and Carly Rae Jepsen were just going for statement make-up. Well, you certainly notice the look.
Open your eyes to a new look
If you outline your top lashline and roughly half of your bottom lash, you actually get the opposite effect of opening your eyes and making them appear larger.
A letter of advice
Carly Rae Jepsen is very faithful to her outline style. Just check out pretty much any photo of Carly Rae and you'll see her wearing full eyeliner.
You know Abe Lincoln's signature beard? Well, he used to be clean-shaven until a little girl named Grace wrote him a letter kindly suggesting he'd look better with some facial hair. No joke. Look it up. And thanks to her advice, an iconic look was born.
We might just write a letter to our favourite songstress...
"Dear Carly Rae:
We love your music and rave about your multi-coloured manicures, but we would like to see you mix up your eye make-up. We'd love to see you show off those baby blues.
Sincerely,
Your friends at Celebrity Red Carpet
