London Fashion Week, inspired by Ziggy Stardust
David Bowie might have put an end to the adventures of his infamous alter-ego Ziggy Stardust back in the late 1970s, but it seems like Ziggy's outlandish style is as relevant today as it has ever been.
If recent goings on at London Fashion Week are anything to go by, 'Spring 2013' might as well be called 'Ziggy 2013'...
Pretty pattern-clashing chaos
There was some spectacular pattern-clashing going on at the Peter Pilotti show in London. There were a lot of black and white patterns, other geometric patterns and some embroidered paneling. All of it was screaming... BOWIE.
Actually, there has been a lot of pattern clashing going on during both the New York and London Fashion Weeks. David Bowie's stylish omnipotence is as good an explanation for this new trend as any others we've heard!
Pam Hogg and the Spiders From Mars?
Then there was the metallic parade at the Pam Hogg show! Models were wearing some pretty vibrant metallic jumpsuits in all kinds of contrasting colour schemes. The similarities between some of these pretty snazzy outfits and the stripey, metallic jumpsuit David Bowie wore in 1973 were uncanny.
Burberry were also getting busy with the metallic paneling during their runway show (not to mention a spectaular rainbow trench finale) and we took a particular shine to the green outfit displayed by Sun Fei Fei. There's not getting away from it, this is one Bowie-tastic London Fashion Week.
All the young dudes, carry the news... Ziggy's back!
