Kate Middleton masters the minimal smokey-eye
Kate Middleton went with touches of sapphire for an appearance with her Prince Charming (William, Duke of Cambridge) during a visit to Nottingham on 13 June 2012.
Always elegant, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a tailored navy dress with front detail. She paired the frock with a satiny fascinator and delicate earrings in sapphire and diamond.
We just had to wonder if she also had her hubby's navy tie in mind when she chose today's look. Sigh. Cutest royal couple ever!
Navy smoke
Yet our favourite touch of Kate's look was her minimal smokey eye make-up. Wait, you say... minimal? Smokey-eye? Yes, it is possible. You should know by now that Kate can do anything!
Most often, Kate goes for simple and natural as far as make-up goes, leaving the smokey eyes to Britain's other beloved, Cheryl Cole .
But today, she chose to bring out the colour of her dress by using a hint of navy eye-shadow.
.. but just a hint. The trick? She used a deep colour, but didn't extend it all the way across her eye-lid.
To get the smokey eye look, she started by outlining her eyes in dark eye-liner and smudging it ever so slightly. She also emphasised both her upper and lower eye-lashes with strokes of black mascara.
Chestnut chignon
You can't write about Kate's look without mentioning her lovely chesnut tresses, recently voted prettiest in Britain. While smokey eyes may be a new thing for Kate, she can be counted on for perfect hair.
She showed off her mane by leaving most of it loose but added a delicate romantic detail, a half-chignon. To get this look, she started with a traditional half up, half down hairstyle and then twisted the upper pony-tail into a pretty little chignon. The little bun went perfectly with the fascinator !
We can always count on Kate for classy looks!
