How to use eyeliner
Eyeliner is a descendent of kohl, which has been used since the time of Cleopatra and the Pharaohs. It gives the eyes definition, and there's nothing else quite like it.
Eyeliner most definitely deserves its star status. We can't decide on a specific time when it had its hayday as it seems to have been popular in every decade from the 20s and 30s to today. It did certainly reach a peak in the 60s, having been brought up to date by iconic beauties such as Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn.
Eyeliner essential
Eyeliner is an essential item in any woman's make-up bag, as it allows you to create many different effects. It also flatters every eye shape!
You also have a wide range of eyeliners to choose from, take your choice between pencils, liquid or twist-up! Whatever you choose, there's sure to be an eyeliner for you with a texture and applicator that fits your needs.
Why not try...
- A simple beauty look in the style of Audrey Hepburn with a thin stroke of eyeliner that flicks out at the end.
- The Hollywood eyeliner starts off thin and gets thicker as you follow the contour of your eye. It is a great style for a sophisticated evening event! Team it with a femme fatale-like red lipstick and a touch of gold powder in the inner corner of your eye.
- The Cleopatra look is for the whole eye, not just the top eyelid. The best combination? Team it with a bit of kohl on your lower lid. This is a look that really suits almond-shaped eyes.
- The best way to get the pin-up look is to apply your eyeliner with a brush. Apply it to your top lash line and finish it off with an upwards flick. Team this with false eyelashes for a cat-eyed look.
Whatever your eye shape and whatever their colour, there's sure to be something there for you. Give it a try!
