Help! My nails keep breaking!
Fear not, broken nails are not a catastrophe! You just need to take care of them! Here's how!
We are pro keratin!
The first thing to do is to always remember to apply a protective base coat to your nails.
A good product to find is one that will strengthen, nourish and whiten your nails, giving you shiny, strong nails that are in top condition. The active ingredient that does this is usually pro-keratin, and the best thing about products that contain this ingredient is that you can also use it as a top coat, which we love.
Grandma knows best
If you'd like to try a homemade remedy, warm oil baths are always a good idea (reheat the oil over some hot water so as not to boil away any of the active ingredients, and do, of course, keep your eye on the temperature of the oil).
The heat will allow the oil to infuse your nails and repair them. Oils are good for repairing broken nails, and you have the choice between olive oil, wheat germ oil or argan oil, which is more expensive but does work miracles.
Another natural remedy to use is lemon juice, which is brilliant for strengthening your nails, and it will also whiten them naturally.
Brewer's yeast is another useful food item that you can use to strengthen your nails, as it is rich in vitamin B, minerals and amino acids. It is also a handy 2-in-1 product, as eating it sprinkled on buttered toast, popcorn or salads makes your hair stronger, too.
Elbow grease
Finally, take care when using cleaning products, as they can weaken your nails. Finally, stay hydrated, especially during the summer. Dehydrated nails are more likely to break.
