Beauty myth-busting: you shouldn't pluck above your browline, true or false?
It's time for another summer beauty myth-busting session! To give us all a helping hand, we've decided to look at a different beauty myth each week, and sort out the true ones from the not-so-true ones...
This week, we ask: you should never pluck your eyebrows above the brow line, true or false?
Totally FALSE! Despite what you may have heard, it's completely fine to pluck your brows from above. Tweezing this part of your eyebrows lets you reshape your brows in line with your eyes. However, to avoid any beauty faux-pas, here are our step-by-step plucking rules for you to follow!
Don't over-pluck!
Before you start plucking, make sure that your eyebrows are nice and neat by brushing them with an eyebrow brush. This will also allow you to see any stray hairs that need plucking. It's only these stray hairs that you'll be removing, no more than that. Remember that you should never over-pluck, as the hairs will then grow back quicker.
For perfect eyebrows, you should make sure that your brow line follows the shape of your eyes. Your eyebrows should start in line with the inner corners of your eyes and finish where the outer corners of your eyes finish.
Thick eyebrows: In or out?
Although thin eyebrows were in fashion for a while, thick eyebrows are much more acceptable today, with many stars adopting this style to great effect. Thick eyebrows shape your face and add character.
However, it is thick and not messy eyebrows that are in fashion! To keep your eyebrows looking perfect all day, spray a bit of hairspray onto your eyebrow brush before brushing them. This will keep your brows in place while still looking natural. Clever or what?
Conclusion: Your eyebrows give definition to your face and add intensity to your look, so you do need to take care of them. Forget the myth about not plucking above your brow lines, both the areas above and below need to be done! All you need to remember to do is find your natural brow shape and not over-pluck!
