Avril Lavigne... style sponge
Avril Lavigne is known for her unique rock-chick style (now that her sk8er boi days are far behind her).
Since 2009, the singer has been showcasing her very own clothing line, Abbey Dawn, at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York.
This year, the star rocked up to her catwalk show at the MBFW in true Avril-style with some crazy hair and some even crazier make-up. As the above photos demonstrate, Avril Lavigne still isn't what you'd call a wallflower...
Monochrome moment
The singer strutted her stuff in front of the cameras wearing some studded black boots, piano-effect leggings and a chic white blazer. Although this was what you could call a riot of an outfit, it all seemed to work pretty well together. This is probably because black and white go with absolutely anything, even Avril's multi-coloured highlights...
There can be a lot of smoke without fire...
Avril Lavigne has always experimented with hair colour and lately she's upped the ante with some green and pink highlights, her own take on this year's neon trend. But, believe it or not, that wasn't the most interesting thing, check out her make-up look for New York...
We've been noticing a lot of heavy eye make-up in Celebrityville of late, especially smokey-eye looks and heavy eyeliner.
Avril Lavigne seems to have been paying attention because she went for both looks at once, seemingly with a bit of extra eyeshadow... just in case? This look certainly ensured that Avril got herself noticed!
As if that wasn't enough, she decided to magnify the look for all to see with over-sized glasses. Thanks, Av, we would have missed that otherwise...
The thing we really liked about Avril's beauty look was her black nail polish. It went very nicely with her monochrome outfit (naturally) and it added a more polished element to her overall look.
Avril's style amalgam...
Essentially, what Avril Lavigne accomplished in New York was an eye-catching mish-mash of some of this year's hottest trends: neon, white, smokey eyes and black nails.
The question is: does it work as a style combination?
Well, we're not entirely sure but we do think that Avril gets away with it. It seems like style is all about attitude! If you're happy with your look, you're more than halfway there. Of course, a snazzy blazer like Avril Lavigne's never goes amiss...
