August 2012 fashion magazines - will yours be summery or autumnal?

The August edition of any women's monthly magazine is always a transitional issue. The fashion weeks which have taken place in early July have revealed autumn's fashion and beauty trends, and every magazine needs to discuss them. On the other hand, it is still summer, so any August issue worth its salt still needs to have a summery feel to it.
It's a bit of a misconception that you can only focus on one of these seasons at a time, as the two actually go very well together and can be included in the same issue with no problems whatsoever. It's not surprising, then, that each monthly magazine will probably cover a slightly different angle. Some go for the autumnal fresh start, while others try and prolong the summer as much as possible.
Two magazines who have opted to stay with the summer are Marie Claire France and Vogue Portugal. On one cover we have a young woman on the beach dressed in a striped sailor's shirt and bikini bottoms, and on the other is the one and only Doutzen Kroes, who looks delectable in a white bustier swimsuit, lazing on a lilo in a beautiful turquoise pool.
The message here is very clear: summer is still here! Make-up is still meant to be simple, light and radiant to highlight your bronzed summer skin.
Elle Denmark and Harper's Bazaar Turkey, however, have definitely gone for an autumnal ambiance. The colours involved are warmer, the beauty looks heavier and more elaborate, and the suntans have now disappeared.
Then we have the magazines which have compromised, easing us into autumn gently but still with a hint of summer. Their covers feature women dressed for an urban adventure rather than for the beach. These models' beauty looks are simple, but their skin is matt rather than radiant, with less of the sun-kissed look and a bit more make-up.
Whichever magazine you choose, you can be sure that your August issue will be full of beauty tips to help you end summer with a bang!
